FAQ.

I’ve never heard of your company, what kind of comics do you make?

Our brand of entertainment is different between projects, although we tend to do cynical dark humor really well. Most of us enjoy the type of parody and pop reference material found in South Park, Family Guy, ATHF and other like media. We take extra effort to make sure our work stands on it’s own. If you are a fan of anything like mentioned earlier and have an intelligence above the normal dregs of society chances are you’ll enjoy any of our work. If you are full of yourself or are offended by anything and everything you might want to steer clear.

You didn’t really answer my question, is your work cool like X-Men?

No. Please visit another website if all you want is generic Marvel or DC rip offs.

How long have you been around?

Melby Comics was founded in 2005 by Erik Hodson. He started out with some writing help from his cousin Matt and there friend Todd and produced Melby Comics #1. Erik then took all the money he had and got 2,000 copies printed from a local printer. He spent every dime he could to take his book around to comic stores and conventions. By the end of the year Erik had been joined by fellow creator and  extraordinary artist Phil Whitfield! Phil took over the art for Chaterville and ran with it! Erik later met Jim Mackey who was writing jokes for Disney Adventures Magazine illustrated by Matt Feazell.

In 2006 Erik took a break and formed an animation studio called SuperHappyDvD, later shortened to SHDVD.TV with Jim Mackey and his brother Paul. The three of them created SHDVD.tv to create animated shorts to support their joint comic work. their first project was Frank and Jerry a tale of a Frankenstein monster who is roommates with an alien from Space. This trio developed other hot properties including the wildly popular Chad the Fat Kid now on Drunkduck.com

Today Melby Comics is trying to get all it’s ideas out there. We have tons of cool, hip original properties but lack the manpower to develop them all right away.

Hey I want to break into comics are you hiring?

That depends, are you willing to work basically for free? Currently our business requires every dime made by sales of our books, ads, etc. to go back into the company and keep it going. Our business model focuses on expanding the Melby brand. So if you have a cool idea for a book, or want to head a creative team on a Melby owned property we’d love to hear form you and see your work. At this point you would make money by making convention, comic store appearances, selling sketches and yes your book.
